KUANTAN: The Pahang government has adopted a rational approach to tackle widespread land encroachment involving Musang King durian farmers in Raub instead of completely tearing down the illegal farms. Pahang govt firm on legalisation scheme for illegally occupied durian farmland
The Pahang state government said it will not give in to anyone opposing the legalisation scheme for durian farmers currently illegally occupying land in Raub. “The state government will not bow to any pressure from any party who opposes the legalisation scheme because the state government has been making losses and compromises for too long,” said Pahang state secretary Sallehudin Ishak said when contacted by Malaysiakini today. Planting durian trees on hills risky, warns Penang group
GEORGE TOWN: A environment-interest group today said fruit farms cannot crop up on any highland without permission from several authorities for it might cause long-term erosion issues. Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM) said in the case of a Penang hilltop, illegally cleared to set up a durian farm, there was no reported planning permission or even a permit from the land administrator, as required for all hill land.
